Notice of Regional Drought Declaration - Reduce Non-Essential Water Usage
Public Notice – Water Conservation Request City of Biwabik Public Utilities Commission
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has notified the City of Biwabik that the Western Lake Superior watershed has entered the Drought Warning Response Phase under the Minnesota Statewide Drought Plan due to prolonged dry conditions and expanding severe drought.
We are asking all residents and water customers to reduce water use. Our goal is to lower overall water consumption as much as possible, particularly outdoor and non-essential use.
Please help by:
- Limiting or suspending lawn watering, car washing, power washing, and filling swimming pools
- Fixing leaks promptly
- Using water-efficient appliances and fixtures
- Conserving water indoors and outdoors whenever possible
Significant reductions in demand are achievable when everyone participates, especially by restricting non-essential outdoor water use.
